Accepting gifts and generosity

This weekend some friends are throwing a shower tea for me. I find myself hoping that they aren't bringing gifts! We haven't registered yet, so there's an element of what would they get us?!? but a larger part of me that has a major problem with the whole center of attention, materialistic, bridal role thing. I know it makes people happy to give gifts. I need to let them. But this feels weird.
